In Theatres This Weekend
Okay, raise your hand if you think the title of this movie is really just a conspiracy between Nacho Libre’s filmmakers and theatre owners across the nation to sell more nachos? I’m pretty sure Dick Cheney plays some dirty part in the scheme as well. Nachos for Oil or some shit.
Whatever. Just resist the urge to head for the candy counter upon entering the multiplex and together we’ll thwart this Snaxis of Evil.
Nacho Libre stars Jack Black as monastery cook by day, Lucha Libre wrestler by night in this side-splitting comedy by the creators of Napoleon Dynamite. If it’s anything like that movie, the real beauty in this one will lie in its details – the set design, the unique characters, the costumes, the props.
Nacho Libre also stars Hector Jimenez, Troy Gentile, Moises Arias, Lauro Chartrand, Carla Jimenez, Ana de la Reguera and Richard Montoya. Directed by Jared Hess.
If you think the sight of Jack Black bulging out of his tights in every direction is more repulsive than hilarious you may want to consider one of these other flicks opening this weekend: Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties, Only Human, Lower City, The Lake House, The Mostly Unfabulous Social Life of Ethan Green, Wordplay and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
Also, if you’re a film nut you may want to note that CBS airs AFI's 100 YEARS... 100 CHEERS tonight at 8PM EST. Make nachos for that and get the crunchy, zesty snack out of your system by Friday.
