Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story

Last night a few of us got really drunk and happened across this VH1 original movie. Wow, what a score! It was absolutely shit-tastic! Anthony Michael Hall lit up the screen as mullet-wigged super-producer Mutt Lange. The dialogue was as bad as you can imagine times ten, but the entire cast of unknowns made it even better by overacting times a hundred. And I did learn a few things. For example, I had no idea Joe Elliott was such a slave driving prick. And did you know the drummer dude actually lost his arm while racing in the car from Knight Rider listening to his own music (“Rock of Ages”)!? Priceless. I looked on VH1’s site and it didn’t list a time for the next showing of this sure to be cult classic, but I suggest you keep an eye out and watch it if you’re ever flipping channels and see it on; it’s the stuff dreams are made of.

bobby, i have to say i watched this movie and am completely dissappointed by the 20 minutes they spent on the drummer losing a limb... this should have been about 50 minutes, since it's about the only interesting thing about the band.

My favorite part is when Anthony Michael Hall as Mutt Lange is in the studio urging Joe Elliott to hit that high, crucial note even though it's really hard because, god dammit, it'll MAKE THE SONG and he tries and he tries and then HE GETS IT and Mutt plays it back and it's impossible to even tell what he just sang because there are something like 8,000 vocal parts on the song (just like on a real Def Leppard song). MUTT! LANGE! MUTT!! LANGE!!

Wouldn't it be awesome if Shania Twain married Anthony Michael Hall instead? No, I guess not. I feel so much wiser and yet, so much dumberer for watching this movie. Are we still on for the Def Leppard/ Journey show? I know we were drunk, but shit. Lawn seats. How fucking rad would that be? I'll pay for gas AND refreshments. How about it?
